Update from Dr. Hembree

Good Afternoon Chiefs,

This is Dr. Hembree from McCormick County School District with a few important updates.  First and foremost, we are looking forward to all of our students returning to school tomorrow, January 4th for the start of the second semester.

Over the winter break, we have seen an increase in COVID-19 cases among students and staff.  If your child or someone in your household has come in contact with COVID-19, please contact Nurse Batchelor at the elementary school.  You may reach her by phone at 864-443-2292 or by email at batchelorm@mccormick.k12.sc.us.  As a reminder, we do strongly encourage the wearing of masks by all of our students and staff.  Masks are still required to be worn on all school buses.

If your child is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, testing is available on Tuesday mornings from 8 am to 9 am in front of McCormick Elementary School.  You must pre-register your child for this testing.

Also, we will be holding a vaccination clinic this coming Thursday, January 6th for students (ages 12 and up), staff members, and family members of students and staff.  Booster shots will also be available.  This will take place from 2 pm to 4 pm in the middle school gym.

If you are interested in participating in the COVID-19 testing or in the vaccination clinic, please contact Nurse Batchelor.

Lastly, due to some staffing shortages, bus 15 will be running late tomorrow morning.  Thank you in advance for your patience.

Thank you for your attention to this message, and we look forward to a wonderful 2022!

Respectfully,
Dr. Hembree
