Good afternoon, Parents/Guardians/Students.

This is Gena K. Wideman, your middle and high school principal.

I hope everyone has had a great spring break.  It is time that we return to school on tomorrow, April 25.  We have six weeks left before summer break.   

So here are a few reminders:

Make sure you are staying in touch with your teachers regarding student progress.

Parents: You should have received information on completing annual surveys for your child’s school.  If you have not, please look for this information.  This year surveys are being completed within your PowerSchool.  If you do not have or have forgotten your PS login, please contact Mrs. Kristen Salliewhite by emailing her at ([email protected]sc.us).  If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Mrs. Toye Willis by email at [email protected].   You may also contact these individuals in the main office @ (864) 443-2243.  When calling the main office, make sure you tell the receptionist that you are calling about the parent survey so they will properly direct your call.

Students who were notified of his/her eligibility for Piedmont Technical College or Landers University admissions for the 22-23 school term, your applications are due tomorrow.  This includes current students who attend PTC or LU.

On Friday, April 29, PTC will visit McCormick Middle School.

On Saturday, April 30 MHS will have its Junior/Senior Prom.

Make sure to look for emails from Coach Salliewhite, MHS Athletic Director, for updated athletic information.

As always, you can find “UPCOMING EVENTS” through the remainder of the year on our FB and Webpages, as well as through email. If there are any changes, you will be notified through the weekly information posted on these sites.

Good evening, Parents/Guardians/Students.

This is Gena K. Wideman, your middle and high school principal.

Spring break is April 18 - 22, 2022.  Students will return to school on April 25, 2022.

The following events are scheduled for the week of spring break:

April 19, 2022  - Seniors may pick up senior supplies between 11am and 1pm.  Please pull into the student parking area (to the left of the high school and across from the softball field).  Someone will be available to assist you.

April 20, 2022 - Track and Field will travel to Batesburg-Leesville for a 5pm start time.

April 21, 2022 - Soccer will travel to High Point Academy for a 5:30pm start time.

VISION ~ 

The vision of McCormick Middle and McCormick High School is to create a learning environment that builds character, promotes critical thinking, and requires staff and students alike to take ownership of his/her learning and behavior. 

 

Welcome back!  I truly hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving break, filled with family, friends, and fun.

We are returning to school tomorrow, November 29.  We have approximately three weeks before we are out again for Winter Break, and the semester ends.  End-of-Course testing will begin the week of Dec. 6-10 for English, Algebra 1, US History and Biology.  If you have not contacted your child’s teacher about his/her progress this semester, please do so.  Also, encourage your child to talk with his/her teacher if they need any additional help in understanding these content areas as the grades received on these assessments are calculated into their final grade for the course(s).  Let us know if you have any questions.

 

In athletics:

JV & Varsity BKT will host Emerald Vikings on Wednesday, Dec. 1 and Lincoln County Red Devils on Saturday, Dec. 4.  Both games will begin at 5pm.  As always, you may visit our webpage to purchase your ticket(s) to these events online, as well as upcoming events.

 

In our community:

Saturday, Dec. 4, the annual Holiday on Main parade will begin @ 4:30pm.  Hope to see you there.

Parent Weekly Information 11-22-21

Good evening, Parents/Guardians/Students.

This is Gena Wideman, your middle and high school principal with some weekly information.

Herff Jones make-up orders will be on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 @ 11am.  If you missed the last order, you are able to catch this one.

Also on Tuesday, all students will be allowed to wear jeans to school.  Make sure the jeans do not have any holes, rips, and/or tears, even if they are patched. Jeggins are not allowed.  

They may also wear a Clemson or Carolina shirt (whichever of the two teams he/she are pulling for) OR….If they do not have a Clemson or Carolina shirt or jersey, a plain (no graphics) red, black, and/or white T-shirt may be worn.

As always, CROCS or HOODIES ARE NOT ALLOWED!

If a student choses not to participate in the jean/Carolina/Clemson day, they must be in uniform dress code.

We are allowing students to have this opportunity for a dress down day, but only if he/she follows the rules.  Failure to follow rules, may result in not having a day like this again.

In athletics:
Stay in contact with your child’s coach for holiday practice dates and times.

Visit our FB and webpage for information on upcoming events, such as testing date, semester end dates, etc.

Parent Weekly Information 11-1-21

Good afternoon, Parents/Guardians/Students.

This is Gena K. Wideman, your middle and high school principal.

Here is your parent weekly information:

Besides teaching and learning this week.....

  • Basketball try-outs begin for grades 7-12.   In order for your child to participate in the try-outs, they must have a completed, updated physical and parent permission.  They will need a concussion protocol and COVID-19 form signed.  If you have any questions, you may contact your child’s school.
  • Football will travel to Denmark-Olar for 1st round playoffs  Game time: 7:30pm
  • Parents/Guardians:  It is nearing November.  We are near the end of the 1st semester.  Please check with your child and his/her teacher(s) regarding his/her academic progress.  When the semester ends in December, and the grades are final grades and entered into PowerSchool, they will not be changed. 
  • If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Week of 10-11-21 addendum

Good afternoon, Parents, Guardian, & Students.

This is Gena K. Wideman, your middle and high school principal.

We are returning to school from our two-week intercession! 

It is HOMECOMING Week @ MHS.  The CHIEFS will host Ware Shoals on Friday, October 15, 2021.  While we are working to build up to the big game, check out our Facebook and Webpages for the weekly festivities as well as other events taking place this week.  Use the link to the athletic page for game day tickets.  The middle school will join in the weekly festivities with MHS.

Students remember:  Jeans are not allowed on Monday.  If jeans are apart of you homecoming week outfit, they may be worn the remainder of the week within dress code (no holes, rips, tears, etc.)  If you choose not to participate in the homecoming festivities, you must be in normal UNIFORM dress code. 

Parent University will be held the next 3- Thursdays; Oct. 14th, Oct. 21st, Oct. 28th.  MES parents are invited to attend 9:30-11:00 and MMS parents are invited to attend 11:15-12:30.  Please visit MCSD/ Your child's school Facebook page to get more information and register to attend.  Door prizes and lunch will be provided.  Don't miss this opportunity to eat and learn with your child. Space is limited due to COVID. 

Lastly, we will show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness month by wearing pink.  Students, you may wear a pink POLO shirt, pullover, or jacket any day in the month of October as we show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Remember, the pink POLO shirt, jacket, or pullover, must be plain and in accordance with the dress code, to include NO HOODIES.   The only difference is the color.

This is Gena K. Wideman, your middle and high school principal.

This message comes as weekly information, as well as a reminder that Fall Intercession begins tomorrow, Monday, September 27 and end September 29.  Students will arrive to campus by 8am and depart at 12 noon.  Students who have been invited to attend received a call on last Thursday.

If students currently ride a bus, transportation will be provided.  If your child is a car rider, please have him/her school no later than 8:00am.  They will need to be picked up at 12 noon.  Drop off and pick up will take place in front of the middle school for middle school students and in front of the high school for high school students.

In addition, MMS and MHS will hold Parent Meetings on the following dates:
Grade 6 ~ Monday, 9/27/21
Grade 7 – 8 ~ Tuesday, 9/28/21
Grade 9 – 11 ~ Wednesday, 9/29/21
Grade 12 ~ Thursday, 9/30/21

All meetings will begin at 4:30pm in the HS Cafeteria.
